Thank you for making it such a special day for us. It was the best surprise and it could not have been a better day. Not even the rain could have ruined it. Thank you for everything.

OVERVIEW

"The helicopter approaches closer than any other vehicle to fulfillment of mankind’s ancient dreams of the flying horse and the magic carpet."
- Igor Sikorsky

When you want to fly low, see what is happening on the ground and exert 360 degrees of control over your flight, then nothing beats the thrill of a helicopter. Whether you’re shooting aerial photography or just touring the countryside, you get to see the world from an elevated perspective, access remote locations nobody else can reach, and enjoy the power of being able to move in any direction you want, whenever you want.

Pegasus Flight is proud to offer flight instruction services featuring the most modern aircraft, highly experienced instructors, and a proven curriculum that will allow you to earn your commercial pilot’s license in a very reasonable timeframe and at a highly affordable and competitive price.

THE BEST AIRCRAFT

All four of our Pegasus Flight helicopters were purchased new, directly from the Robinson Factory. Robinson helicopters are the gold standard for helicopter training, and if you are interested in flying rotorcraft for a living, then most companies will expect you to have experience in at least one of these models. If you are new to helicopters, we recommend the R22 to start out with, and after you become experienced, you can switch to the more powerful R44. Please note that students weighing over 240 lbs. must use the R44.

STRICT SAFETY & MAINTENANCE

At Pegasus Flight, nothing comes before safety and we spare no expense to ensure that our helicopters are mechanically perfect before each and every flight. Our maintenance plans adhere strictly to all FAA regulations, and we also perform the Robinson recommended service every 50 hours in addition to the FAA mandated checks to ensure that everything is running exactly to specification. We perform an annual inspection that is rigorous, requiring a comprehensive examination of every part of the aircraft to ensure nothing is out of place. When our helicopters reach 2200 hours of flight time they also undergo a complete overhaul. Time limited parts are changed, and the engine is replaced with a new, remanufactured or completely rebuilt one, ready to fly another 2200 hours. These policies ensure all of our helicopters are always operating at peak levels of safety and performance.

VETERAN FLIGHT INSTRUCTORS

Our company employs six veteran flight instructors with outstanding safety records and exceptional flying skills. You will benefit from learning to fly from truly seasoned mentors with real world experience and expert insight.

LEARN TO FLY IN NEW YORK AIRSPACE

You will gain valuable knowledge by learning to fly out of the centrally located Linden Airport. You will be trained to communicate with the different controllers in the New York airspace. Imagine being able to talk to Air Traffic Control (ATC) just like the "airline professional". You will learn a professional vocabulary that you will be able to use almost anywhere. Additionally, you will experience all four seasons and all types of weather but will avoid some of the harsher conditions that are often associated with more challenging areas such as Boston.

FAA PART 61 CERTIFIED

We are FAA Part 61 Certified and offer a personal and flexible approach that gets you the training you need. Currently, we are in the process of becoming FAA Part 141 Certified and expect to have our curriculum FAA approved and standardized by the end of this 2009. You can read about the difference between Part 61 and Part 141 certification here.

EASY SCHEDULING OF LESSONS

We offer fully online lesson scheduling using Paperless141.com, our flight instruction booking system. You can immediately view all open time slots and instantly schedule the best time for you. Once you have signed up for Flight Instruction with us, we will send you instructions for how to access this system. If you prefer, you can book lessons over the phone.

ALL THE MATERIALS YOU NEED IN ONE PLACE

Pegasus Flight has all the handbooks, training manuals, test materials and instructions you need to earn your desired license or rating. Additionally, headsets will be provided to new students for the first few introductory flights. If you choose to continue with your lessons, we also have headsets available for purchase.

EXCELLENT NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

While you are a student, you will have the opportunity to network with other prominent aviation company operators and companies at Linden Airport, and make contacts that will prove valuable after you graduate. We also make an effort to introduce our students to potential employers, and try to give our graduates as many opportunities as possible to begin their professional career once they earn their license.

PROVEN JOB PLACEMENT

Students who have obtained aviation licenses from Pegasus Flight have gone on to work in an exciting and diverse number of jobs. Many of our students have gone on to become flight instructors, while we have also had graduates fly for the New York Police Department, Newark Police Department and large oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico. Our students have also found work in places as far away as Madagascar, and in locations such as the Netherlands and Sweden.

INSTRUCTION FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

Pegasus Flight is proud to provide flight instruction services to foreign students who have been approved by the Transportation Safety Authority. If you are a foreign student, you may begin the approval process by registering on the TSA website. During the application process you will need to have your fingerprint and photograph taken and will need to obtain TSA approval before starting your flight lessons with us.
